Using SkillsFuture Credits for Chemistry Learning

Many learners—students, working adults, and returning professionals—can use their SkillsFuture Credit to pursue academic or technical courses, including Chemistry and Science upskilling programmes.These credits can support approved lessons that build foundational or exam-ready skills in Chemistry, such as stoichiometry, laboratory methods, or analytical reasoning.

How SkillsFuture Supports Learners

• Credit Eligibility: Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above receive SkillsFuture Credit to offset approved courses.
• Course Examples: MOE-approved Chemistry courses, exam preparation classes, and applied STEM workshops.
• Application: Credits can be used on the MySkillsFuture Portal for registered training providers.
• The one-off $500 SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) top-up from 2020 expires on December 31, 2025. You must submit your claims for this specific credit by this date, as any unused amount will expire immediately afterward. It’s important to note that the standard SkillsFuture Credit and the Mid-Career SkillsFuture Credit (S$4,000) do not have an expiry date.

• The course is SkillsFuture-claimable (officially registered under SSG).
• The provider offers transparent course outcomes and post-training support.

Latest Update from MOE (6 Nov 2025): Stronger Safeguards for Learners

In Parliament, Dr Charlene Chen (Tampines GRC) and Mr Yip Hon Weng (Yio Chu Kang SMC) raised questions on how SSG prevents misuse of SkillsFuture credits.

MOE’s response clarified new safeguards:

• From 1 Dec 2025, SSG will disallow third-party marketing of courses to prevent misleading sales tactics.
• Providers must not make exaggerated claims or pressure learners using credit expiry deadlines.
• Violations may lead to suspension or de-registration of the training provider.
• SSG will publish enforcement actions and learner feedback ratings on the MySkillsFuture portal.

In short: only genuine, high-quality courses focusing on skill and academic growth will remain approved.

This ensures learners—especially students and parents investing in tuition—can trust that SkillsFuture-eligible programmes deliver real educational value, not aggressive marketing.
