Our lessons cover essential topics in Chemistry or the PSLE syllabus, aligned with the MOE syllabus.

The 2023 Science Syllabus for students (Primary) has been implemented progressively starting from the 2023 batch of Primary 3 students in 2023 and all new batches henceforth.

Primary 3 students in 2023 will offer the P4 syllabus in 2024,

P5 syllabus in 2025,

and P6 syllabus in 2026.

In this article, we provide details on our class structure, key learning areas, and tuition rates, ensuring parents and students have all the information they need to make an informed choice. Discover how AchieversDream can support your child’s learning journey in Primary Science today!

What Does a Primary Science Tuition Class Teach?

Science Tuition for Primary 3 and 4

Our P3 and P4 Syllabus encourages to see the world in the lens of science and builds the basic foundation such as in (P3. Cycles in Plants and Animals.)

Science Tuition for Primary 5 and 6

Our Pri 5 and 6 Science Tuition Program serves as an excellent bridging program. Students are taught to engage confidently in Primary School Science topics.

At this level, the focus will be on reinforcing their knowledge for the topics as well as understanding the underlying mechanisms for topics such as the use of parallel circuits in electrical systems.

Benefits of a Primary Science Class

A primary science tuition class offers a multitude of advantages that can significantly enhance a child’s educational experience:

  1. In a typical classroom setting (especially for primary schools), teachers often have to manage a large number of students, which can make it challenging to cater to each child’s unique learning pace and style. With a tuition program, children benefit from small group sizes or even one-on-one sessions, allowing tutors to tailor their teaching methods to suit each student’s needs.

  2. Primary science tuition programs often incorporate hands-on learning experiences in contrast to traditional classroom instruction which can sometimes be overly theoretical. When children can see and manipulate scientific concepts in action, they are more likely to develop a passion for the subject and a desire to explore further.

  3. Additionally, these programs help build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Science education is not just about memorizing facts; it involves inquiry, analysis, and the application of knowledge to real-world situations.

For the more inquisitive child who are genuinely interested in the sciences (or their new found interest in the subject) these formative years are crucial. Through guided experiments and discussions, students learn how to ask questions, formulate hypotheses, and draw conclusions based on their observations. These skills are invaluable not only in science but also in everyday life. By participating in a primary science tuition program, children develop a mindset that encourages exploration and innovation, preparing them for future academic and career challenges.

Challenges in Teaching Primary Science

Not all Children are the same!

The main challenge of Primary Science Teaching is the varying levels of interest and ability among students.

Some children may find science fascinating and seek to learn more, while others might struggle with the material or feel disinterested. This also applies to the teaching method, some children prefer doing experiments while others may require dedicated guidance. This disparity can make it difficult for educators to create lessons that engage all students equally.

As a result, some children may fall behind, missing out on foundational knowledge that can be beneficial for their future studies or interest in science.

Access to Lab materials and resources

Another challenge is the limited resources often available in primary schools. Many educational institutions may not have access to the necessary materials or equipment needed for hands-on experiments, which are essential for a comprehensive science education.

This lack of resources can lead to a more theoretical approach to teaching science, reducing students’ opportunities to engage in practical applications of what they learn. Furthermore, without the chance to conduct experiments, students may find it challenging to connect scientific concepts to real-world scenarios, diminishing their overall understanding and appreciation of the subject.
