Primary Science Tuition

To ensure consistent progress in Science through the primary school years, AchieversDream tuition is your trusted partner.

Our program is designed to guide students in mastering key topics like the diversity of living, non-living things, the water cycle, and the human system, ensuring they stay ahead at every level.

With interactive lessons, hands-on experiments, and personalized guidance, we make Science engaging and understandable for young learners. By joining AchieversDream, students will build a strong foundation and develop the confidence needed to excel in their Science journey.

Curriculum for Teaching Primary School Science Topics

To effectively cover these topics for Primary 1 to Primary 6, we take into account the progression that aligns with students’ developmental stages, integrating engaging activities and events to make learning interactive and memorable.

*Achieversdream science tuition centre also has a lab available for higher level learning and experiments.

1. Foundation Stage (Primary 1–2): Building Curiosity

Topics:

  • Diversity of living and nonliving things
  • Diversity of materials
  • Interaction of forces (Magnets)

Approach:

  • Hands-on exploration: Allow students to classify objects based on characteristics (e.g., living vs. nonliving, materials).
  • For Primary 1 students, common activities held by schools such as nature walks allow them to observe and identify living things in the garden.
  • *The Sony Creative Science Award is held yearly (April 2025) for students to use concepts from the sciences to create toys. This is usually held in Primary 2 or Primary 3.

2. Exploratory Stage (Primary 3–4): Understanding Systems and Cycles

Topics:

  • Cycles in plants and animals (Life cycles)
  • Plant system (Plant parts and functions)
  • Human system (Digestive system)
  • Cycles in matter and water (Matter, Water)
  • Energy forms and uses (Light, Heat)

Approach:

  • Model building: Create life cycle models or digestive system diagrams.
  • Experiments: Simple experiments on heat transfer and water cycles (e.g., condensation in jars).
  • For Primary 3 or 4 students, hands-on projects such as growing plants to observe their parts and life cycles of butterflies are the most common events.

3. Conceptual Deepening Stage (Primary 5–6): Applying Scientific Principles

Topics:

  • Cycles in plants and animals (Reproduction)
  • Human system (Respiratory and circulatory systems)
  • Plant system (Respiratory and circulatory systems)
  • Electrical system
  • Energy forms and uses (Photosynthesis)
  • Energy Conversion
  • Interaction of forces (Friction, gravity, elastic spring force)
  • Interactions within the environment

Approach:

  • Simulations: Use digital tools to visualize energy conversion, photosynthesis, and circulatory systems.
  • Design challenges: Build electrical circuits or models demonstrating friction and gravity.
  • Field trips: Visit science centers or nature reserves to see environmental interactions firsthand.

Yearly Key Events to Reinforce Learning

  1. Science Carnival (Mid-year): Combine all topics covered up to that year into interactive booths, experiments, and quizzes.
  2. Environmental Action Day (Earth Day): Teach interactions within the environment through clean-up drives and recycling challenges.
  3. Annual Science Project Competition: Encourage students to choose a topic of interest and work on it independently or in groups.

Cross-Level Strategies for Engagement

  1. Storytelling: Use narratives to explain complex processes (e.g., a day in the life of a water molecule).
  2. Gamification: Create quizzes, scavenger hunts, or science-themed escape rooms.
  3. Parental Involvement: Host “Family Science Nights” where parents and children can engage in activities together.

By combining structured learning with creative events, students can explore science holistically, fostering a love for the subject while ensuring conceptual mastery.
