How and What To Prepare for O-levels Chemistry Exams

Are you ready to ace your upcoming exam? To ensure your success, here’s a concise checklist of must-do preparations:
This is a checklist of materials to bring on the day of the exams.
To bring:
- Entry Proof (personalised EP are given by the school from 26 June 2023)
- Photo ID document such as NRIC or Student pass.
- Blue or Black Ballpoint Pens and 2B Pencils or HB for the shading of the MCQs.
- Eraser
- You are only allowed to use the approved calculator models listed on SEAB’s website.
Exam Format

After checking your chemistry papers, make sure to answer the 40 MCQ questions, compulsory structured questions and the last either/or question.
(*Do keep track of the time allocation and preparation time for each segment, the weightage for Paper 2 takes 50% of the entire paper and students should be adequately prepared.)
What to Expect from the O Levels Examinations
Based on the O level chemistry examinations from 2022, a few difficulties pointed out by the students are:
- Shaded the Wrong MCQ box
- Difficulties erasing the marks off from the mcq sheet (Do bring extra erasers)
- Worries about 2B or HB pencils (Either Pencils are fine as long as the shading is dark enough to distinguish between the shaded and the unshaded.)
- Confusion on reduction and oxidation questions
- Increased confidence on organic chemistry
- Practical on Titration was a first. (As a leading chemistry tuition centre, Achievers Dream has built the chemistry lab for this purpose. To allow students to gain continual practise and exposure to all types of practicals, especially before the exams when school labs are closed to all students)
- Broke the funnel or burettes provided during the Practical. (Stress and other factors can get to you during the session, the invigilators or teachers understand that too. Stay calm and continue, or request for a replacement if needed.)
How to Prepare for O-level Science Exams

- Seek clarification on challenging topics from your teachers.
- Get enough rest and maintain a balanced diet.
- Organize your study space for maximum focus.
