2026 Secondary 1 Posting Results & Secondary School (2026)

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that the 2025 Secondary 1 (S1) posting results will be released on 19 December 2025 at 9am. Parents and students can access results via the S1 Portal using Singpass, SMS if provided, or through the child’s primary school on the day itself.
Unlike collecting PSLE results or booking school choices, you do not need to report to your posted secondary school immediately after receiving the results. Instead, refer to the school’s website for reporting day details, booklists, uniforms, and other start-of-term information.
Understanding the New Secondary Placement System SBB (Full Subject-Based Banding)

From the 2024 Secondary 1 cohort onwards, Singapore’s education system no longer uses the old Express, Normal (Academic), or Normal (Technical) streaming labels.
Instead, students are placed into Posting Groups (PG1, PG2, PG3) based on their PSLE scores, and can choose subject levels individually for English, Mathematics, Science, and other subjects through the Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB) system.
Under Full SBB:
- Students are placed in classes at G1 (least demanding), G2 (standard), and G3 (most demanding) levels for each subject.
- These subject levels are mapped loosely from the old streams (G3 ≈ old Express, G2 ≈ old Normal Academic, G1 ≈ old Normal Technical), but students can now mix and match by subject strength and interest.
- Students have the flexibility to move up or down subject levels as they progress through secondary school based on performance and interest.
This means the 2025 Secondary 1 cohort is among the early groups fully under Full SBB. Students in earlier cohorts (those who started Secondary 1 in 2023 or before) were still in the transition period and may be the last batch under the old streaming system (Express / N(A) / N(T)) for examinations such as O-Levels and N-Levels. Starting with later cohorts, national examinations and pathways will increasingly align with Full SBB subject levels rather than traditional stream labels.
What If You or Your Child Regret Their School/Postings

It’s common for parents and students to worry about school placements, especially when results come out just before the new year. Here’s what you should know:
School Transfer & Appeals
If your child feels the placement doesn’t match their strengths or preferences, there is usually a process to appeal or seek a transfer — but this varies by school and often has deadlines. Check the MOE S1 Posting site or contact the posted school directly to explore options.
G1, G2, G3 Subject Combinations
Because of Full SBB, students can customise their subject levels more than in the old streaming system. Some combinations might include:
- Strong in Math & Science, but weaker in languages: A student could take Mathematics and Science at G3 or G2 while starting languages at a level that helps build confidence.
- Balanced subjects across strengths: A student good at languages and humanities but average in Science can mix G2 levels in their stronger subjects and G1 where classroom support is needed.
- Early shift in subject focus: Students who start at an easier level in a subject can work with teachers to move up as they gain mastery, or vice versa if the pace is too fast.
How This Affects PSLE and O-Level Preparation
Because Full SBB replaces rigid streams with flexible subject levels:
- Students can take Mathematics and Science at the level that suits their pace from the very beginning of Secondary 1.
- This can influence how much time and effort students will need to invest in Mathematics and Chemistry early on, especially if they choose higher levels (such as G3).
- Choosing the right mix is important because it affects confidence, mastery of foundational concepts, and preparation for later national exams.
Practical Tips for Parents & Students (Before School Starts)
- Review Posting Results Early: Log into the S1 Portal with Singpass on 19 December to see the school placement.
- Check Reporting Requirements: Visit the posted school’s website or Parents Gateway for reporting day details, booklists, and forms.
- Understand Full SBB Levels: Talk to your child about how G1, G2, and G3 subject levels work and how they align with your child’s strengths.
- Explore Adjustments: If the placement or subject levels feel mismatched, reach out to the school about possible adjustments or support options before the school year begins.
- Plan Early for Key Subjects: Start reinforcing foundational topics in Mathematics and Science, especially for students aiming for upper secondary or O-Level levels.
